Studio 54 will forever reign as the hottest, most elite and outrageous, one-of-a-kind "mother of all nightclubs". It was real-life theatre at it’s best, with a fascinating cast of characters being selected for each night’s grand cabaret performance party from the multitudes clamoring to get past the famed velvet ropes. In 1986 Studio was in need of a new, more advanced sound system. After many major nightclub installation successes including club Shout! (The world’s largest 60’s & 70’s nightclub), the Starr Entertainment Group was called upon to design & install a state-of-the-art sound system for the huge

large room nightclub & disco duty imposed. You simply had to design & build your own speaker boxes & load them with the best drivers you could buy". The Starr Group had seen many meltdowns of lesser gear in competitors systems.

Designing & installing an earth shaking sound system for a club that was originally a Broadway theater with dimensions greater than 325’ X 250’ was a complex task. "Fortunately our experience with major

disco, whose dance floor routinely accommodated more than 2000 revellers. A lot had changed since the club’s original sound system was installed in 1977. The Starr Entertainment group featured their own custom line of high-output speakers, tested & perfected in their large room night club installations. According to president Peter J. Starr "None of the speaker manufacturers at that time were building speakers that would withstand the tremendous demands that

There is no substitute for experience, & with a project of this magnitude, financial commitment & visibility, there simply could not be any mistakes."
